Call for Paper: Virtual Special Issue on Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources (UOGR)

Unconventional resources (gas shale, oil shale, coalbed methane, gas hydrate, tight gas sand) have been performed as the potential alternative future energies and are expected to transform global oil and gas market from the long-term perspective. Recent cutting-edge techniques have spurred widespread interests in multi-scale investigations of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs. However, accurate resource estimation, reservoir characterization and developing approaches are subject to numerous uncertainties. To ultimately achieve the economic development of unconventional resources, insightful scientific understandings and engineering downhole practices are required.

This special issue invites submissions presenting novel experimental and mathematical methods that focus on a broad area of petrophysical properties in unconventional resources.

Topics of this special issue mainly include, but are not restricted to: 

  • Shale petrophysics and formation evaluation
  • Shale nanopore structure and pore evolution mechanism
  • Gas adsorption and desorption properties
  • Digital rock reconstruction
  • Fracturing geomechanics
  • Modeling of fractured reservoirs
  • Wettability and relative permeability
  • Nuclear magnetic resonance application in unconventional resources
  • Coalbed methane, gas hydrates and tight gas sand challenges and solutions
  • Application of artificial intelligence in unconventional reservoirs

  • All submitted papers must be clearly written in excellent English and contain only original work, which has not been published by or is currently under review for any other journals. All papers will be peer-reviewed according to the reviewing policy of AGER. This is virtual special issue, in which all accepted papers will be published immediately. Requests for additional information should be addressed to the guest editors.

Papers should be submitted via online submission system at www.yandy-ager.com/index.php/ager.
